I do think Winston and Julia is a good match because they have the same beliefs, thoughts and way of expressing themselves. Winston and Julia have characteristics the mesh, which consist of them both hating the Party even though Julia is more comfortable about speaking about them than Winston is. They are both always consumed with their work, when Winston works long hours Julia work even longer hours. Neither one of them have memories of anything before the early sixties. They are both comfortable with each other and do not discuss the possibility of getting married because it’s way too remote to be worth thinking about. Julia understands Winston in a way that she can relate to him and his life story, even when it comes down to his relationship with Katherine. Characteristics about their personalities that can cause problems are Julia spends an astonishing amount of time in attending lectures and demonstrations, distributing literature for the Junior Anti- Sex League. So she is more involved in her beliefs than Winston is which can cause him to feel like she’s doing too much. Julia is very care free, so she does not have a problem with keeping the small rules and breaking the big ones. Winston on the other hand is more rational with his way of thinking. And due to the age gap between Julia and Winston maturity and experience could have an affect on their relationship. Winston believes that they are all dead men walking, he is afraid of dying. Julia really isn’t too concern with when, where, and how she is going to die she just wants to live her life without any worries. In which I think she feels this way because she is young and her view- point of life is somewhat different from Winston’s. I think there is a strong possibility that their relationship will last, only because the positive characteristics that they have in common out weigh the negative characteristics that they do not have in common.
ReplyDeleteIn my understanding of reading the book I never thought Julia and Winston wasn't a good match because I figure she was a spy to look on at Winston to catch him in a crime. But reading and following the book everyone changes down the line and when Winston and Julia met up at the canteen it change my whole response on Julia feelings toward Winston because she likes him. My prediction on their relationship might last and fizzle at the same time because Winston is still trying to feel out the puzzle pieces about her. When reading they both were enemies at one point and now there likeing each other. Certain things still have me wondering because it might be a trap for Winston and get him caught by the Thought Police. And then in the back of my mind she might have a plan to take the Big Brotherhood to let everyone have their own freedom.
ReplyDeletei do believe that winston and julia are a good match but only to a certain extent. George Orwell describes Julia as someone who puts on a facade to appear to actually be devoted to the Party. Her appearant dedication to the Party allows her access to certain privleges that Winston does not have. Winston seems to be quite impressed with Julia and has found some sort of connection between the two of them. One can infer that Winston isn't enjoying his marriage with his wife. Orwell makes it known that Winston practically dislikes women and his wife is most likely the reason why. He was searching for love and connectivity with someone who shared common thoughts and feelings with him. Julia tells Winston that she never follows the news because it's all fiction anyway. She makes it known that she, as well as Winston, possesses a great deal of animosity for Big Brother. Furthermore, though they are on common ground as far as hate for Big Brother goes, this may kill their attraction to one another later on in the book. Winston may think of Julia as a spy for the party which may alleviate his trust for her. His paranoid attitude may cause confliction between the two which will eventually lead to much more critical conditions among them.
ReplyDeleteJulia and Winston relationship at this point is already pretty weird because first of all they kind of talked on a piece of paper. Like when she gave Winston the note that said“I love you” that was strange, but I guess I understand why she did it like that. Winston and Julia have the same feeling toward the party and sex. That can be good because people with the same ideas seem to stay together for long periods of times (Will and Jada). They also work at the Ministry of Truth and they say a relationship at work can never last. Then, again they are kind of risking their lives by talking like they are and also having sex, which is against the wishes of the party. Julia seems to be a girl that completes Winston like a circle and I think they will last for a period of time. As the book progresses their relationship may start to lose its fire. At the rate that they are going one of them may become an “unperson”. Well if that doesn’t happen they may find it to dangerous to be meeting and end it on that note. Maybe one of them may do something to make the other person mad. At any rate I don’t think Julia and Winston will last. So while the relationship seems so strong know and they still get butterflies when they see each other it won’t last. Another possible factor for the ending of their relationship is the age gap between the two. Right know its Winston and Julia sitting in a tree but somehow that tree will fall and Winston and Julia will over. WINSTON AND JULIA FOR NOW……
ReplyDeleteI believe that Winston and Julia are a good match because they have similar characteristics. They both believe that they are “corrupt to the bone”. They both agree on the fact that they both hate purity, goodness, and virtue. Both Winston and Julia suggest that everyone should be “corrupt to the bones”. Their characteristics mesh because they both are unorthodox, brave, and honest. The characteristic about their personalities that can cause a problem later in the story is that Julia is a quiet, curious person. She can become very suspicious at most times. Winston is a person who will always think ahead. He also seems like a person who is always alert and aware of what’s going on around him. Their characteristics do actually mesh against one another. This leads me to predict the fact that their relationship will not last as long as it may seem. I believe that Julia is working along with the “Thought Police”, or maybe with the “Brotherhood”. From my own opinion I believe that Julia will betray on Winston. I think that this is a part of Julia’s plan. For example, she could have been faking the fact that her arm was really hurt. She could have been trying to get Winston to really notice her, so she could have Winston fall into her trap. I also believe that Winston does still have some type of curiosity about Julia, which to me is a good thing to keep hold of.
ReplyDeleteWinston and Julia is a good match… for the time being. Yes, they have a lot in common. They share similar beliefs about Big Brother and his conspiracy. They work for the same job, being near each other basically every-day. Both, Winston and Julia have each other to express their feelings. Before, they always had to hide their physical emotions, being aware of faithfulness to the party. Faith in the party meant, vaporization or death!
ReplyDeleteTheir personalities mesh very well. Winston expresses his love for Julia upfront. He tells her why he loves her, and asks peculiar questions that may appeal to his sexual desires. This is very unappealing, and they both lose interest in each other. Telling by the book, the excitement is vaporized once scene is over. Also due to their situation, they are always in an uncomfortable position (alert). They always have to be on patrol for the law.
According to my interpretation of this literature, I think the dynamic relation will perish. In Oceania, this city has this known, but invisible code. Trust, is the factor of this code, and there is none. People (Winston); do not emotionally/physically communicate with each other. Due to fear of Big Brother, and in his world, trust is not in it. He has made specific unwritten rules, in which are unjustified and is followed. A person of Oceania, report to BB, and vaporization is the punishment. Also, their love (Winston), is more of a physical relationship, more than destined. His desire to love is over once he is satisfied.
Yes I do believe that Winston and Julia is a good match. I believe that they are a good match because they share some of the same characteristics. They both believe that everyone should be corrupt to the bones just like they are. And they also like and dislikes the same things. Characteristic about their personalities that mesh are that they are somewhat loyal, they isn’t really affair of anything, and they both are not an orthodox. Characteristics about their personalities that may cause a problem later in their relationship is that Winston likes to keep his inner emotions to his self while Julia is trying to motivated him to change that. He seems like a person that knows everything that is going on around him. Julia seems like she’s the shy type and don’t really talk all like that. It also seem like she be curious about everything that be going on around her and wonder why things happen when it do. Than it’s like she know things but don’t know things at the same time or trying to hide things. By the end of the book I believe that Julia and Winston will last or maybe fizzle. I believe that it will last because Julia is/has help Winston out with a lot of things and got him to change some of his ways. I believe that it will fizzle because I think that Winston thinks that she has some information about the brotherhood that he needs to know. And from her being nice and good to him he wants to trust her than again he doesn’t.
ReplyDeleteIt is my personal belief that any two people could be a good match if the feelings shared between them are strong enough. However, for the purpose of a grade and to provide an actual response to the question, I do believe that they (Winston and Julia) are a good match. Julia has helped Winston find himself; after all of those years he has finally found a cause worth fighting for. Winston has Julia to thank for this, she had such an impact on his life that to her, he could tell no more lies, he can no longer stand by and quietly falsify documents, he has finally started to do something. All thanks to Julia. Their relationship is stronger than most due to the circumstances of their relationship. They are united under a common cause, motivated by love, driven by hope, their relationship will last. A clash in personalities will only help them it is like two halves to one whole, they complete each other. It is all of these reasons that tell me that they will be a couple that will last until the day that they die. The only way that there could possibly be any kind of problem is if big brother somehow catches them together and finds out what they are up to.
ReplyDeleteWell yes. I think they are a good match, but near the furture their will be problems. But so far julia has helped winston when he was lost. After many many years she has helped him find his self an now he wants to take back control over it. Because of her, he does not want to lie to the public no more he just cant do that to her. Cause if he do she will end up gettin caught with him. Now that i have found more information about their relationship i dont think anything could brake them away.
ReplyDeleteI think Winston and Julia are a good match. I say this because even though Winston though that Julia would give him to the thought police. She turns out to be someone he trusts, and when you can trust someone in there world that’s a good thing. When they start to get together Winston is scared they will get caught and taken to the Ministry of Love. But they are able to find a safe place where they can talk about Big Brother and be happy in each other arms. They start to do everything to be together even if it’s just meeting in public and walking side by side. Their personalities mesh because they believe in almost everything, except a few things about big brother and the past. So far their personalities have not caused any problems; they seem to be getting along well and can take comfort in each other. I think they’re going to stay together till the end if they can. With each other they seem to be able to get through the days and nights of the lie of big brother. If they don’t get caught by the though police, then I can see them having a life together. Though not the way they want it, but in a way where they can still survive and be together.
ReplyDeleteI know that they are good couple. I can tell by the way they express themselves to each other. The main characteristic that they have in common is that they are not afraid to let go of their feelings. Especially towards each other the way they make love to each other. They both have the strength, the will, and the guts to never give up on each other. They love each other too much to give up that easily. I do not see either one of them letting go of the bond that they share. I believe that things will be different between Winston and Julia. I do not know about everyone else, but I do not see any bad characteristics that would break them apart. The only difference that I see between Winston and Julia is their age difference. Winston may be older than Julia, but they do not care at all. But even thought I do not see it, does not mean that someone else does see it. They may not compatible for one another for some certain reason. Maybe one of them will fall out of love with the other. This is why I’m predicting that their relationship will not last for long. Maybe one of them or both of them might get killed. Maybe they might get in a big argument and then decide to split up. Or maybe they might grow tired of each other and start seeing other people. Either way you put they will mostly likely end up together or apart.
ReplyDeleteWell, honestly, any relationship between a poor sap of a man and a skank is doomed. Even though Winston said that he loved her more for every guy she did have sex with, which is kind of creepy and completely the opposite of my mentality, but ok guy. But this is all easy for me to say, because I’ve never experienced love . I have no idea what it feels like, so I guess my opinion on the matter would be useless. I’ve only ever felt lust, and in that case then the relationship between Julia and Winston makes sense 100%. She is willing to evade the authorities in order to have sex with Winston, and as a guy, I doubt he will complain. And also, the argument can be made that Winston does not truly “love” Julia, but only loves that fact she is having sex with him. The only reason he left his first wife was because she thought that sex was nasty and grotesque and should only be done for procreation. But again, I’ve never felt love so My opinion on this matter is utterly useless :)

I think that Winston and Julia do belong together because they both have everything in common They would be a perfect match. They have the same style but its seems to me that Winstons is more on the shy side about them two. Like it seems like he need to open up more.If he dont open up soon their relaionship will be going down hill.
