One of the activities that I regularly engage in that would be considered 'ownlife' would be reading, which many people find strange. As an English teacher, I READ everything, all day, all the time: senior project research papers, testing data, classwork, tests, memos and letters, emails, scoring guides... the list goes on and on. These are things I have to read because it is a part of my job- it is what I must do (and sometimes even that can be interesting and entertaining). But I always have my stash of books that I read when I get home- mysteries and love stories and historical fiction. I almost feel like I have to read- it is my palette cleanser- it washes away the all the madness, drama, frustration and stress that I inevitably bring home from work. If I can read a book from the stash for just an hour or so, I feel like I'm ready to get back to real life.
I suppose what makes my "ownlife" of reading different from Winston's in 1984 is that I can read what I want, when I want and how I want. It is mentioned that most of the literature is Party literature and the other types of fictional readings, such novels, were only allowed to be read by the proles. Even the historical fiction that I enjoy so much would be different in 1984 since history is constantly being rewritten by the Ministry of Truth.

He who controls the past controls the future …..
ReplyDeleteYes I do strongly agree with the quote “he who controls the past controls the future” because of the simple fact what you done in past or present always or if not always most time effects your future or the future. For example the rules and regulations President Obama puts in place today effects our future depending on the rule or regulation. Another example is if I was to convict a felony in my past I controlled my future in being not so great because of simple fact I would be unable to get or enjoy many opportunities, for example good paying job because of my fast and what I did. Also we all control our future and it is in our hands and no one else so it is only right that he who controls the past controls the future .Also without controlling the past and making and learning mistakes you won’t know what to prevent and avoid in the future which leaves you or anyone the controller of past present and FUIURE! You future is in your own hands regardless who you are and no one there to get to your future and make sure good except your own self so again that’s why he who controls the past controls the future . And lastly the leaders in the past all affected our future in good and bad ways some helped stop slavery and others got us in a recession but we all control the future if we control the fast.

The activities that I regularly engage in that would be considered " ownlife " would be sitting alone listening and enjoying music. It would be considered Ownlife because I am showing individualism by taking part of an activity by myself. Another activity that I regularly engage in could be Homework. I do Homework everyday with out help and do it by myself, which again is another symbol of individualism. I believe everybody takes uses the term " ownlife " everyday because whatever you do by yourself whether its cooking for yourself or doing a paper or even writing this comment I consider "Ownlife".
ReplyDeleteOwnlife refers to the tendency to enjoy being solitary or in other words alone, which is considered subversive. I usually don’t do a lot alone because of fact I would probably get easily bored but some activities in which I engage that would be considered “ownlife” would be things like doing my homework or eating my diner in my bedroom. Also sometimes, although extremely rarely I go shopping alone usually when I am on my break from work or have nothing else better to do. When I do my homework every day that is me alone in my room or dining room working on it. Another activity I do is walk to bus stop in morning; I usually don’t walk with anyone I usually meet up with my friends on the bus. Also when I watch TV I usually watch it in my bedroom by myself. When I am on laptop or on phone usually it’s just be alone other then few times I am on laptop with others doing something .When I read I like to be by myself with no distractions around me so I could be focused on reading and understanding what I read. When I take my shower and use the restroom I DEFDIANTLY is most of the time alone. also when I a relaxing in my room just listening to music peacefully that will be considered “ownlife” .As you could read I usually don’t do much alone I am a very social person who likes to be surrounded by others just for simple fact it’s not always that fun alone lol although most time you do need that time to yourself.
ReplyDeleteSome activities that I would normally engage that would be considered “ownlife” that I do every day would be writing, thinking, and playing. “Ownlife” according to 1984 means freethinking for yourself, or individual thoughts. I like to write especially out of my own opinion for a topic because it expresses my feelings towards certain things in life and the only way I can be and feel free is when I write. So writing every day is contributed as an activity that is “ownlife” for me. Another activity that is contributed to my “ownlife” is thinking, the ability to think what you want to think is a way to imagination. Imagining is a way to be able to think and feel without having to actually do. Thinking allows you to have your own thoughts and opinions on a lot of situations in life. You can always be mentally thinking and not having to do it physically or verbally. Lastly playing, playing anything in my life. Hanging around and chilling with my family is always an activity that is “ownlife” it gives me the pleasure to do anything I would like to without having to feel so uptight. I love hanging out with my family because it’s the one place where I can feel like myself and always be accepted regardless of what I neither think nor say. So these are some activities that contribute to my ownlife.
ReplyDeleteSome of the activities I engage in that I would consider to be “ownlife” would be activities that I enjoy doing in the privacy of my own home. Some of which are; Listening to music, Watching television, Reading books, Social Networking, and drawling. These are the things that I consider “ownlife” because I participate in these activities in the privacy of my own home. I regularly engage in these activities and I enjoy them to the fullest. Activities that I engage in outside such as skating, paintballing, snowboarding, etc. are also activities that I consider “ownlife” this is because these are activities that I find enjoyable and pleasurable to myself. I don’t engage in these activities for anyone but myself. I pretty much consider any activity that I engage in daily for the purpose of my own to be an activity that would be considered to be “own life”, because it’s for my own personal gain, and no one else. Like Reading, I read because I enjoy certain stories depicted by individuals with a different view on life than mine, also It’s to educate myself. I enjoy Skating because it’s a personal test of my abilities. I view it as a way to test myself and accomplish something that many other people can’t as well as Snowboarding, and paintballing. Drawling is also something that not many people can do, it give me a way to depict my emotions on a piece of paper in hopes that people will one day be able to understand.
ReplyDeleteThe activities that I regularly engage in that would be considered "ownlife" would be drawing or doing some form of art. It would be considered Ownlife because I enjoy drawing, painting, and etc. it helps me express myself and relieve stress.Art is a skill that turns into a trade that all cannot do but if you are given the gift then use it to your full potential. Also creativity is a huge component of art and being creative means you are spontanious and accomplish tasks in a unorthadox way.
ReplyDeleteI'm very active throughout the day. My ownlife activities include: School, dance, music and watch TV. I'm a very active person and if I'm not in school or home doing homework I'm at the dance studio. I would say that dance is what I would consider my "ownlife" because when I dance it’s just me and nobody else. Everything and everyone it’s not in that world, once I step in the dance studio all the problems disappear. Ever heard that quote "Dance like nobody is watching" that's what I do. When I'm in the studio I dance like there's no tomorrow, and there's nobody there to judge me. I dance because that helps me relieve stress. In the studio there are about 17 other girls that are just like me. We are very different in many ways but dance is one thing that connects us all. Listening to music is another thing that I would consider "ownlife", I consider music ownlife because sometimes music helps you get away from all the problems you're going through. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way about music. I also consider music ownlife because without music there's no dancing. That's why both of those things are my "ownlife" I wouldn't consider school "ownlife" because that's something almost everybody does. Dancing it’s something not a lot of people, at least ballet and all of those types of dances.
ReplyDeleteSo, let's talk a little something on the topic but off the topic, at the end i will get back to the topic. There are 168 hours in a week, I spend 49 of those hours sleeping, which leaves 119 hours. 30 of those hours are spent in school, and 26 are spent at work, that leaves me with 63 hours of nothing to do. Now this sounds quite irate, however it doesnt feel like I spend 63 hours doing nothing, but apparently I do. Now back to the subject,I burn my spare time by driving around, taking showers, ironing clothes, cleaning my house, and on facebook. If i could change anything it would be my study habbits, and my procrastination. When I have free time i do not study nor do school work, instead I participate in unneccesary activities. The term "Ownlife", no shall I be defiant and ask whether this is a real compound word or just two words that someone decided to put together to represent something that I myself may not can explain on this one post. I wonder should I have out a comment after that last sentence, but question marks represent the unknown, or the will to seek an answer. I know my answer, I take advantage of my life everyday, I live for today and worry about tommorow when it comes, If you try to live forever time will become your biggets enemy, and I dont need those. My life is my life and when its up it will be up, but for now Im going to dwell on my 63 hours of misused time and live it to the fullest.
ReplyDeleteIn 1984, there are a lot of different things that are different then our time today, for example ownlife. Ownlife is doing anything that suggested a taste for solitude. Going for a walk by yourself would be considered ownlife. There are many activities that I do during the day that one from the Winston’s world would consider ownlife.
ReplyDeleteOne event that I do that do that would be considered ownlife is run by myself. I love to run. I run every day for an hour sometimes I run for a longer time period. How long I run really depends on how I feel at that moment in time. It helps me stay physically fit. This would be considered ownlife because I don’t run with anyone else, I do it all by myself, and that is individualism.
Another thing that I do EVERYDAY that would be considered ownlife would be that I show my emotion. It really doesn’t matter where I am either. If I wake up and my back is hurting extremely bad than when I got to school everyone would know. I would had a hurt look on my face. If I had recently found out that my grandmom past away, I would be unusually sad. I would have an excessive amount of tears on my face. I would not feel like working and I would not follow any of the rules that were given to me that day. This would be an example of ownlife because it would be eccentric to someone who lived on ocaenia.
Ownlife means to be individual and eccentric. I am doing a lot of things that make me individual from others. In my personal life I’ve been dancing for Philadanco for five years, but I’ve been dancing since I was about four or five years old doing praise dance at my church which I have been apart of for fifteen years. When I was younger my doctor told my mother that I would be tall so she decided to place me in ballet classes where I learned how to carry myself as a graceful young lady, to walk with presents, to stand with poise as well as how to dance. Dance became the foundation of my life. I currently dance at the Philadelphia Dance Company, we do yearly shows at the Tweeter Center in New Jersey, the Kimmel Center and few other performance stages, people from your community and family come to see the whole dance school perform their yearly practiced dances.
ReplyDeleteI’ve also played the violin for ten years and later moved on to the trumpet which I taught myself how to do. I started playing the violin in kindergarten where I borrowed the schools violin to practice at home. We use to perform for the school playing little things like “Ol Mc Donald” and other things of that nature. By fourth grade my mother and father purchased my own personal violin. By the time I reached the sixth grade I was in the orchestra playing second violin and as time went on I moved to first violin playing higher and harder octaves. When I got to high school, as a freshman, my school didn’t have a band or a orchestra but than I transferred to PMA @ Leeds and they had a band. So I started out a intermediate not knowing anything about the trumpet my friend Preston helped me with the fingering and from there I was on my own. The following year I was on the advanced band. These are just a few things in my life that makes me “ownlife.”

In New Speak “own life” means individualism and eccentricity. Most activities that I engage in, I would consider own life. Activities like taking jogs around the track, going to the supermarket, even simply going to school by myself. I would consider putting perfume on my clothes individualism because only the proles in the book were allowed to where perfume. If I was in Oceania and I was jogging alone, it would look suspicious. Another thing that I do that can be considered “own life” is reading. For instance while I read 1984 I read it alone. I don’t have someone being able to put the information from the book in my head. Being able to have the freedom of thought is something I consider eccentric compared to 1984. In Oceania they weren’t allowed to think about whatever they wanted, because of the Thought Police. They were supposed to think of Big Brother. Also having the freedom of chose of clothing. In the book the Outers wore only overalls. Today we have the choice to wear whatever we want no matter what our “status” is. I individually watch television by myself. In Oceania they are only suppose to watch whatever Big Brother put on their television. Everything was moderated. We also have the freedom to make any expression on our faces that we want and how we want. In the book, they had to be careful of their facial expression or they would be committing a face crime. I also go shopping at the mall, which is something that isn’t allowed in Oceania.
ReplyDeleteOwnlife
ReplyDeleteOwnlife is individuality or eccentricity. Things that you do as your recreation time that does not involve working, eating,or sleeping. Things that I consider to be “ownlife” is watching tv and getting on the computer. For example,in 1984 ownlife for Winston was very limited because there were many things that they could not do because of the thought police and there fear of being vaporized. On the other hand ,the proles have a lot of ownlife because there are too many of them to control. My ownlife activities like going out to partys, staying out late, having freedom of speech, freedom to have sex for enjoyment(does not apply to me)and even being able to dress how I want is a something Winston cannot. Because of the strict rules, for example Winston can only wear overalls. he cannot have sex for enjoyment. he can not stay out late, or anything. I think winstons ownlife is a secret because the only thing he does is write in his journal.
“Ownlife ”are activities that people do individually and eccentrically. Activities that I do regularly engaged that would be considered “ownlife” is waking myself up and getting ready for school and or getting ready for work. I consider this “ownlife” because it is what I chose to do on my own time with the help of no one. Dancing is what I like to do and is also considered “ownlife” because it is me by myself in my room alone. Studying and doing homework is “ownlife” also because once again I do it on my own will alone to help me out with school. Making serious decisions and planning my future everyday is a major activity of “ownlife” simply because it is me doing what I need to do for myself. Sleeping in my bed alone, watching TV, searching the web, eating food, listening to music, they are all activities that I do alone and individually. When I play games on the t.v its considered ownlife .Everything that I do alone is ownlife.
ReplyDeleteAn activity that I engage in and would call it “ownlife” would be staying at home and listening to music. I would consider this “ownlife” because when I don’t really have anything to do, I listen to music, and start singing and dancing. I pretend that I’m in my own little world and that no one can touch or break me because I would be alone. Not only can you listen to music, but you could also engage with other people such as talking on the phone, going out, and chatting on the internet. Most people would call “ownlife” just staying at home and not do anything but read because they can’t really find anything else to do. But there is so much to do that you can’t really name them all. I would call “ownlife” being able to take care of yourself instead of having people do it for it. In “ownlife” you would have to know how to cook, clean, and wash clothes and everything else that you would do on a daily basis. If I’m not watching television or listening to music, I also study for upcoming tests in classes. Some people may not agree with that being an “ownlife” activity, but if there is nothing else to really do and I’m bored I’ll study or read a book that I know would interest me. Another activity that I engage in and would call it “ownlife” is working. I work about 3 days a week, and in the adult world that’s really nothing. But to me, that’s a lot with school on top of it. You can call anything “ownlife” just as long as you’re engaged in doing something.
ReplyDeleteEverything I do would be considered “ownlife”. I’m the only child in my imdete family so I was raised to do everything myself, and enjoy myself. In the context of 1984 I would get in trouble for thought crimes which I also consider my “ownlife”. I like to read and write, I like to look up art work from the past and present of all different genres. I like to listen to music, and just sit there and zone out. I like to watch hours of TV and spend the rest on the computer. I research past, and present events, and articles involving everything, and anything that catches my interest. Most importantly I enjoy being alone which I assume is the biggest crime n the world of 1984. I don’t like being forced to conform or being told what to do. If I feel cheated or slighted than I will speak out about it whenever I feel it’s necessary to, my existence in itself is my own life and if I forfeit that than well it just won’t happen. I would be an unperson on more than one account and probably vaporized before even reaching this age.
ReplyDeleteWhat a person does in their private alone time today is called “me time where they do something to release stress or do something that would embarrass them in front of someone. In the book they do the same in refer to it in newspeak as “ownlife”, what comrades do when Big Brother not watching. What I do on my own is considered one of the things you prefer to do alone or could be ridiculed for it. Not because it illegal or gross or perverted it something that you would not expected from a 5’10 175 lb athlete with the macho exterior I have. What activities u partaking in does explain what type of person u are because you have no one to filter for. Such as not farting in front of ur girlfriend even tho u make it as loud as u can while ur alone. That because its how you are but you hide it cause an insecurity. Mine would be the perfect example of that. It something that a parent calls up the aunts and uncles for while taking pictures of …………their toddler. I don’t want that type of attention so I close the door and make sure its looked. However it’s a relaxing thing to do. I mean, so what I find the pleasure that a five year do on a second bases. But if u thought I was going to post my “ownlife” u must be chopped. It own for a reason.
ReplyDeleteThe activities in which I regularly engage in that would be considered “own life” (meaning individually and eccentricity) are, doing the dishes at two in the morning because it makes my day. Walking to the park or playground after it is dark out and the street lights are turned on. In order to get a tan I sleep outside in my backyard. I clean the toilet every Tuesday and Thursday. I Brush my teeth properly and then eat something afterwards. I give people high fives then catch myself pulling my pants from off of the back of my leg by my butt. No not really. I clip my boyfriend’s fingernails and polish them so that he looks professional for the work force. I find myself singing the first song I hear in the morning all day long. When I think I stare into space and completely ignore everyone. I go to a Chinese buffet to eat American food. I eat garlic croutons and then talk to my friends using breathy words such as “hi”. I tend to laugh at jokes that are not funny just to make the person who told the joke feel better. I love talking to random people in summer classes and schools and on the bus I take. I watch cartoons such as Dora the explorer, yo gabba gabba, SpongeBob square pants, wonder pets and fan boy and chumchum even though my little brother is not located in the house at that given time.
ReplyDeleteThere are many activities in my life that I consider to be “ownlife” that the outer party was not privileged by the outer party. Whenever I do my homework I listen to music and enjoy listening to it. I consider this ownlife because I do it with freedom and at will. I will not be penalized for listening to music at any point of the day. Another thing that I consider ownlife is drumming. Drumming is something that I do every day with complete freedom. I go to drum-line practice every Thursday and I enjoy doing. Drumming is my way of being individual and having my own style of drumming makes it more of my ownlife. Waking up at anytime during the weekend would be my ownlife because I do not have a specific time that I have to wake up and go to work or anything. In 1984, Winston and the outer party have certain time that they have to wake up and go to work and it is a daily routine every day. Playing sports is my ownlife as well because I play for leisure and there are no regulations that I have to follow. I can go and play basketball whenever my heart desired and no one could tell me otherwise. Reading and writing are also a part of my ownlife because I do not write in secret and worry about my work being seen. I can also read many books of any genre to my leisure without a rule being broken.
ReplyDeleteThere are many activities in which I regularly engage in, that would be considered “ownlife”. One thing that I love to do when I’m all alone and there no one there is play my violin. Another activity that I like to do when I’m alone is draw. When I do these activities when I’m alone it relaxes me, doing these thing make what’s ever on my mind go away.
ReplyDeleteWhen I play my violin I feel like I’m in my own world. Playing my violin clams me, it makes me feel at ease when I’m mad or sad. One of my greatest passions in the world is playing to violin. I love to express myself through my music, creating new songs and rhythms that reflect who I am is what I love to do. When I’m thinking of new songs I just think how I feel at that moment then I think of note that would fit the feeling that I am having.
I also like to express myself through my art. Art isn’t something that makes me calm or relaxed, but I love the way my art looks. When I’m alone and have nothing to do I just grab a pencil and a piece of paper and I start moving my hand. I don’t really plan what I’m going to draw I just do it. I find myself never planning what I’m going to draw but it always coming out to be something that I will cherish.
What I would consider to be “Ownlife,” is probably two things, playing video games and practicing on my guitar. I consider these things to be something of “Ownlife” because they are things I usually do alone and they help ease my mind. I’ve been playing video games since I was very young and playing for that long basically makes you a geek or nerd or whatever in society. In any case, doing so has given me skills to actually be good at any video game I play within 10 minutes of playing. Basically playing for so long sharpened my mind based on the games I played which called for strategy, sharp reflexes, and quick thinking. Without really noticing these skills were growing and helped me a lot in terms of educational situations if my grades weren’t proof enough. Although what really matters is what I usually played video games for, which was most of the time, just to get away from the real world and jump into a world where anything was possible. Depending on what I played comforted the daily trauma that the real world was giving me and allowed me to express the feelings resulting from the trauma until it no longer existed. It was a cure for my anger, it fueled my happiness, and took my mind off of sad events and stress. Any other reason for playing was basically competition, and just to pass time if I were bored or on a deeper level, it also helped bring some connection between others and myself. Playing brought me together with people that I might have not seen for a long time, or just brought those to me that I never really get to spend too much time with on a daily basis. (Most of the time I play by myself)
ReplyDeleteAs for guitar, I’m learning to play the electric guitar and it was something I’ve always admired especially in music. And it also allows me to just get away from everything and create soothing sounds with just a stroke among the strings. I enjoy music and being able to actually contribute to the creation of the sound of anything consider being music or even a note was a thrill to me. It brings me joy to be able to have such talent, even though I’m still learning and no I don’t really know how to play songs entirely yet nor am I trying to make myself sound like I’m a pro. What I feel more is like it’s a passion more than anything, I have a passion to learn something I really want to learn and develop great talent in. Just being able to progress in the development of playing a musical instrument fascinates me and I strive to be better than the day before. What I feel both activities show about me are determination, passion, and a place to escape to where anything could be possible and togetherness at some point.
As a computer engineer in training I do a lot of things everyday that relate to what I do every day as what I considered my own life. For example, I always do math work and try to solve problems relating to everyday life. Also I’m in the drum line so I have to use a lot of personal skills to combine my musical skills and what I do in physics to integrate my beats to the rest of the band’s music to be in harmony. Not only music that I have that own life, Sports is the same except you use physical traits to succeed in the world in the music. I play soccer and football and whenever I have to stop a game winning goal or to win a game. I always go hard on what I do so my team doesn’t lose and they can go to a championship. Doing activities that u put your own life in to can sometimes be a good thing and bad things: For example, putting you in the risk of getting hurt and broken and never play again can be a bad thing, But if u work hard in give your life in what u do in everyday life then u can be awarded with something special. So in conclusion doing activities that relate in own life happens every day and all things that people do in everyday life. As long as people do what they do in anything they do then it can be considered own life.
ReplyDeleteThe activities that I regularly engage in that would be considered “ownlife“are swimming and skating. See these things were not offered back in that time in 1984. See in the book they did exercise, but they were never offered swimming which is a better type of exercise that is not hard of your ligaments and joints. Swimming is the life where I practically live in the water because I am always in the water. The water is where I get all my exercise and relieve stress ( even though sometimes swimming can get a little boring at times, just swimming from wall to wall a thousand times). Now this is where my other ownlife comes in hand. Skating is one the funniest things my mother and father introduced me to in my life. This is a great calorie burner and stress reliever a person could do. Now this definitely was not in 1984 because they made people stand in front of the telescreen and exercise. The exercise instructor was not thinking about the other ways they could have exercised; they were just making sure they exercised in front of them. Now if they were really worried about everyone getting exercise, they would have everyone run a mile at least 3 times a week. This would definitely get people involved with their exercise. This is what I regularly engage that would be considered ownlife.
ReplyDeleteI wake up on the couch from a deep sleep at 4:00am. I hesitate from getting up; I ask myself, “Do I really want to get up?” I answer “HELL NO!” Relentlessly I rub my eyes open and let out a big yawn. Then I swing my legs off the couch getting ready to go get prepared for my long day. I get up and go up the steps. I first get all my clothing then iron them and lay them out on the bed. Next I brush my teeth and I get a razor, and then go wash my face and shave. After that I go grab a towel and hop in the shower. I finish my shower, and get dressed. I leave go to school. At 2:44pm schools over and I head home. This consists of two buses and one train. Finally I’m home, I get comfortable and eat. Followed by watching TV and doing my all the homework assigned if any. When all is well and done with I head for the bathroom to my brush teeth and to take a nice, good, and relaxing shower. When I am finished with all of that I go back downstairs to the couch (my bed). I always put a good movie on and watch it until I doze off, to wake back up again at 4:00am and start the same thing all over. What I just describe was what I consider my “ownlife,” in which these are all the activities I engage in everyday.
ReplyDeleteOwnlife
ReplyDeleteOwnlife is individuality or eccentricity. Things that you do as your recreation time that does not involve working, eating,or sleeping. Things that I consider to be “ownlife” is watching tv and getting on the computer. .
ReplyDeleteThere are many different activities in my life that I take in to be Own Life that the outer party was not privileged by the outer party. Own life is an activity that you can do at your own will without being told not to do so. When I was younger my mom always said “Don’t play video game during the week”, “wash the dishes before you go outside and play” or “Turn off that TV while you do your homework.” Now that I am older and are able to focus on completing one task before move to another this is considered own life because my mother no longer stands by me waiting for me to do something. Now when I do my homework I by choice focus better with some music on. Music is my life. From time to time I do hate to admit yes she still does check my homework to see if it is done. I freely can do as I please but still conduct myself as a young lady. Another thing I think everyone in this world have as a free life is imagination. We all can think of so many things or make up so many things in one day that it is crazy. We think about our own happy places our own utopias. We imagine living in a world with no sin, drugs or violence. As people we all have different opinions on what own life is. This is just a touch of mine…
I believe that he that controls the past cant control the future because he that does control wont take control at all.For example Mayor Nutter ,he calmed how he was going to do everything to help us get the things we needed and promised us the things we want but after everything settled down there was no change at all.Everything has got worst. Violence is crazy, drug use is out of control, and our people are dieing every single day. To me and everyone else we dont have the time or patience to listen to someone who promised to parents that his or her children can go outside or to school happily when theres war outside. So whoever that says that " who control the past can control the future" is wrong.
ReplyDeleteActivities that I engage in that are called "own life" are when I come home and I cook food for myself because I love to cook and one day I would like to be a chef .Next when I do my home work I turn my music on and sing. To me that’s the only way of expressing myself. In 1984 their lives Winston's life was structured by big brother and the only people who could experience own life where the proles. Also I’m done my homework, I will either write in my journal or watch television to get my mind off of what happened during the day. Futher more if its not to late then I will get on the phone as another way of expressing my feeling of the day or past days.
